135 sqm.
Chalkidiki, Greece
Kimberley Powell
The house, built in the early ’90s, is located in a holiday village on the peninsula of Kassandra, Halkidiki, Greece. The renovation gave the property a functional, aesthetical, and environmental upgrade.
The floor plan is shaped within a rectangular triangle and develops on three levels: basement, ground floor, and first floor. It includes a master bedroom, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a kitchen, an office, a small gym, and storage space, and the main facade is on the long side of the plot.
We intended to apply a simple, unanimous palette of materials and colors. We used linear lighting elements in all spaces to accentuate the strong geometries resulting from the overall design.
We paid particular attention to the environmental upgrade of the residence. We replaced the old windows with new energy-efficient ones, applied a thermal facade, and installed photovoltaic panels. We redesigned the surrounding area and used a suitable plantation for the location’s microclimate; we added a small counter-flow pool and installed pergolas that expand the outdoor living areas.
