Architecture and Tourism Conference, Chania | Design Ambassador & Centre for Mediterranean Architecture
The Architecture and Tourism Conference, organized by Design Ambassador and the Centre for Mediterranean Architecture, gathered industry leaders from December 1st to 3rd at the Grand Arsenal in Chania. It brought together architects, engineers, institutional figures, journalists, and Greek tourism professionals, solidifying its status as the premier conference on architecture and tourism in the country.
The event’s strong attendance, spanning professionals and stakeholders from the hotel and engineering sectors locally, nationally, and globally, underscored its importance. Through exemplary organization, the conference fostered discussions on key issues in both sectors, paving the way for innovative proposals to promote sustainable growth.
In the 5th Panel, titled “Financially Sustainable: A Conversation on the Role of Architecture,” moderated by Danai Makri from Design Ambassador, industry leaders such as Alexandros Costopoulos, Yiannis Tsakalos, Maria Tsaftari, and Thomas Doxiadis led discussions on crucial topics. They highlighted the significance of marketing tools in reducing construction costs and emphasized the importance of technical solutions for energy efficiency and sustainable building materials. Additionally, they explored the export potential of Greek architectural designs, particularly in high-quality tourist accommodations, showcasing Greece’s architectural expertise globally and contributing to economic growth and international recognition.
