The new offices of the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation occupy 600 square metres across three floors of a restored neoclassical building on Anagnostopoulou Street in central Athens. Originally designed by Vasileios Tsagris and restored in 2016 by Alexandros Samaras, the building’s historic character provides the framework for the interior architecture.

The Foundation’s work in marine conservation informed the design of the workplace. A palette of sea-inspired tones runs throughout the offices, introduced in dialogue with the existing architecture. Furniture with classical references is combined with custom hand-painted ceilings, giving each floor a distinct identity while maintaining continuity across the building.

The ground floor also accommodates the showroom of The People’s Trust, a non-profit supported by the Foundation that provides financial and business services to environmentally conscious start-ups and small businesses. At the centre of the building, the elevator is integrated into the architectural composition, with detailing that draws on the language of Athens’ neoclassical tradition.

The project brings together colour, craftsmanship and contemporary interventions to create a coherent workplace that responds carefully to the character of the existing building.
