This project addresses the renovation of the Sithonia building, one of the two central and iconic building structures of the historic Porto Carras resort in Chalkidiki. The design intention was to reinvigorate the spaces, in order to meet the expectations, demands and needs of the contemporary traveler, while maintaining the building’s modernist and geometric identity. In the process of converting the building into a high-end 5* family hotel, the redesign of the outdoor spaces with a masterplan was key. The hotel is comprised of 8 floors in total. The first two host the premium suites and the common areas including the lobby, 4 restaurants, 1 bar, a kids’ club, a gym, a spa and 3 retail units. The rest of the floors are comprised entirely of rooms. Two large lagoon pools and the beach area are the main poles of the masterplan and are accompanied by a pool bar, a beach bar and a seaside restaurant.
