800 sqm.
Vari, Greece
The request for this family house included a long swimming pool, a two-storey library, and a viewpoint with open sea views. The final design features two volumes: a larger one housing the living spaces—living room, kitchen, dining area, entertainment area, and a loft with a guest room and yoga space—and a smaller, rotated volume containing the bedrooms. Atop the smaller volume, a circular staircase ends in an observatory with sea views. The two volumes are oblong, with curved elements breaking their linearity. The façades combine continuous walls and vertical blinds of concrete or wood. Functionally, the house is organized along two parallel axes: enclosed spaces to the east and the swimming pool, outdoor, and semi- outdoor areas to the west. Recesses in the design blur the boundary between inside and outside. Designed to the highest energy standards, the house belongs to energy category A+.
